Dabolim International Airport is another major airport in India located in Vasco da Gama in the Indian state of Goa. It was constructed in 1955 by the Government of the Portuguese State Of India. Airports Authority Of India operates the airport which is owned by the Government of Goa and the Indian Navy As a result of its Air Traffic Control function, the airport generates revenue for the Indian Navy. It is about 29 km from Panaji, the state capital, and serves as an important gateway for tourists. It is spread over more than 1,700 acres, making it one of the largest in India by area.
